US authorities pledged to provide Iran with access to half of the frozen assets
The contents of a draft bilateral memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington have been revealed, which could become the first step toward easing the years-long conflict.
This was reported by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).
According to data published on social media, the United States has committed to providing Iran with access to $12 billion of its previously frozen assets. This process, as stated in the document, is to be completed within 60 days of the agreement being signed.
The news emerged against the backdrop of active diplomatic consultations and military tensions in the region, where the United States and its allies maintain a military presence, and Iran demands the lifting of economic restrictions. It is worth noting that no official confirmation of this information has yet been received from the White House or the State Department, and Iranian sources themselves note that this is specifically a draft that may still be amended.
