UN Security Council to hold emergency session on Yemen situation
The UN Security Council will hold an emergency session on the situation in Yemen on September 10 at the request of Bahrain and the United Kingdom.
This was stated in a announcement on the UN Security Council's website.
The UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, is expected to speak at the session. Saudi Arabia and Yemen will participate in the event in accordance with Rule 37 of the Security Council's provisional rules of procedure.
The session will take place against the backdrop of an escalation between the Houthis from "Ansar Allah" and Yemeni government forces, as well as the group's fighters striking Saudi Arabian territory after a relative lull that had been established following a UN-brokered truce in 2022.
