Trump: Russia must make a deal with Ukraine
US President Donald Trump stated that Russia must reach an agreement to settle the conflict with Ukraine, emphasizing significant losses on both sides.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to foreign media, he said this during a meeting with the Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France.
Trump emphasized that he had previously held a "very good" meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and plans to speak with him again during the day.
"Look, Russia has to make a deal. Russia has lost a tremendous number of people, and so has Ukraine. Last month they lost 35 thousand soldiers combined - that's a monthly figure. On average, they lose about 25 thousand people, mostly soldiers, young, wonderful people, and what's happening there is madness," Donald Trump stated.
He added that he had already discussed the situation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"But we've had talks, and we'll see… I spoke with President Putin on Sunday," he said.
Trump also noted that there remains "strong animosity" between the leaders of Russia and Ukraine.
