Trump on Iran: I am their banker, we control their money
If the US had not intervened, Iran would already possess nuclear weapons.
US President Donald Trump stated this in an interview with the TV channel Real America's Voice.
He spoke in defense of his policy aimed at preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
Trump noted that if the US had not intervened, Iran would already possess nuclear weapons: "If I hadn't done that, they would have nuclear weapons right now, and you would be addressing them as 'sir'."
According to Trump, the US has three strategies regarding Iran. The first option involves continuing the current pressure policy: "Look at how bad their situation is. They have 300 percent inflation. Their currency is practically worthless. They are not paying their soldiers. Soldiers are leaving the army."
Trump emphasized that the second option is to strike Iran "very hard," and the third is to defeat the country economically.
Speaking about Iran's dire economic situation, the US president added: "They can't borrow money. We control their money. They had a lot of money, and we fully control it. I am their banker."
