Trump explained why the US needs Greenland
The United States will remember if they are refused to transfer Greenland, which is an autonomous territory of Denmark.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to TASS, this was stated by US President Donald Trump, speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
"We want to get a piece of ice for the sake of protecting the world," he said, referring to Greenland. "And they won't give it to us. We never asked for anything else, and we could have kept this piece of territory for ourselves, and we didn't do that." "So they have a choice," Trump emphasized, speaking about Denmark and other European states. "You can say 'yes,' and we will be very grateful. Or you can say 'no,' and we will remember."
"A strong and protected America means that NATO is strong and protected," added the head of the Washington administration. "That's why I work every day to ensure that our armed forces are very powerful."
The US President also noted that Washington intends to seek the transfer of Greenland from Denmark for the deployment of a large-scale missile defense system "Golden Dome."
"All we need from Denmark for national and international security and to deter our very energetic and dangerous potential enemies is the land on which we are going to build the greatest 'Golden Dome' ever created. We are building a 'Golden Dome' that by its very nature will protect Canada," Trump said.
The American leader emphasized that the creation of a new missile defense system is necessary to ensure the security of the North American continent. According to him, placing defense elements on the island will effectively deter external threats and protect the United States' allies.
According to him, Washington intends to immediately begin negotiations on the purchase of Greenland to expand the territory of the United States and strengthen the security of the West.
"I am seeking immediate negotiations to discuss again the acquisition of Greenland by the United States, just as we acquired many other territories throughout our history, as did many European countries. But this will not be a threat to NATO. It will significantly enhance the security of the entire alliance," Trump said.
