The US President stated that the new Iranian leadership has reached out to him
US President Donald Trump stated that Iran's new leadership has expressed a desire to "talk" with him.
The American leader is quoted by The Atlantic. According to the head of the White House, he agreed to it.
"They want to talk, and I agreed, so I will be talking to them. They should have done it sooner. They should have offered sooner what would have been very practical and easy to do. They waited too long," Trump said.
When asked whether his conversation with the Iranians would take place today or tomorrow, he replied: "I can't tell you that." The American leader also noted that some of the Iranians who had participated in negotiations in recent weeks are no longer alive. "Most of those people are gone. Some of the people we were dealing with are gone because it was a big hit," he emphasized.
"They should have done it sooner... They could have made a deal. They should have done it sooner. They tried to play it too clever," Trump concluded.
