The US Treasury Department reported that the Donald Trump administration has introduced its most extensive package of sanctions against Iran to date. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

The publication notes that the new restrictions affected more than 50 individuals and legal entities that are connected to Mohammed Hossein Shamkhani, the son of Ali Shamkhani, an advisor to Iran's supreme leader.

According to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, these measures put Washington's interests first, targeting the Iranian elite who profit while Tehran threatens the security of the United States.
