The law on multiple citizenship has come into force in Ukraine

The law introducing the institution of multiple citizenship (nationality) has come into force in Ukraine.

This was reported in the Telegram channel of the Verkhovna Rada.

With this law, Ukraine recognizes dual citizenship with a number of countries, in particular, dual citizenship is permitted if a Ukrainian citizen obtains citizenship of the United States, Canada, Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic, as well as if a foreigner from these countries obtains Ukrainian citizenship.

Previously, when obtaining citizenship of another country, Ukrainians were required to renounce their Ukrainian citizenship. At the same time, the law stipulates the impossibility of multiple citizenship with Russia, as well as "with countries that do not recognize the territorial integrity of Ukraine".
