The Church as the Last Bastion: Who is Behind the Protests Against Pashinyan

Currently, the power struggle in Armenia is unfolding between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the head of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Garegin II.

The current government has concentrated its main efforts on confrontation with the church. This explains the fact that the weakened revanchist forces, which have lost their former influence, are beginning to rally around the church, which remains their last stronghold.

The recent protest at the Armenian Embassy in Moscow, directed against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, was organized specifically in defense of the church.

At the same time, former President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan stated that he and his supporters are ready to take any steps as directed by the Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II.

The Catholicos himself, seeking to gain external support, after visiting France, this time visited the United States.

In Los Angeles, he called on his supporters to fight against the arbitrariness towards the church.
