State of Emergency May Be Declared in France Due to Mass Riots
France may declare a state of emergency due to mass unrest. This was stated by French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, as reported by RIA Novosti.
"This is still a serious matter, including in its implementation. So, if it is necessary, obviously, we would be able to do it. At the present moment, imposing a curfew seems more appropriate to me for the current situation," the head of the cabinet said.
Several hours earlier, Lecornu, following a crisis headquarters meeting dedicated to the unrest in the country, instructed departmental prefects to impose a curfew in a number of areas. This measure will be in effect in the centers of certain French cities in order to protect, in particular, businesses.
