Seven people accused in the largest jewelry theft in US history

The prosecutor's office of the American state of California has charged suspects in committing the largest jewelry theft in the history of the United States. Seven people are involved in the case of the crime committed in 2022.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to RenTv, according to the prosecutor's office, the perpetrators managed to steal 24 bags of jewelry and escape, remaining unnoticed by passersby. It is specifically noted that the criminals did not have weapons, and no one was injured during the theft.
Two residents of Southern California were detained on June 16 of this year. The court charges them with breaking into an armored truck and stealing luxury watches, gold, diamonds, and other precious items with a total value of 100 million dollars. These jewels were being transported from an international exhibition near San Francisco.

One of those involved in the crime is already serving a sentence for another case. He will also appear in court in the near future. The rest of the participants in the theft are still being sought.
As the prosecutor's office clarifies, the maximum punishment for such a crime is up to 20 years of imprisonment. In addition, all criminals may receive up to five years on charges of conspiracy to commit robbery.
