Samvel Karapetyan's arrest has been extended

A court in Yerevan extended the arrest of businessman Samvel Karapetyan for another two months, according to Armenian media.
Karapetyan was arrested in June on charges of public calls for seizure of power (Part 2 of Article 422 of the Criminal Code of Armenia). On Monday, August 11, the Yerevan Court of Appeal declared Karapetyan's arrest illegal.
The decision to extend the arrest was made by a judge of the anti-corruption court. The petition to extend the detention period was initially filed by the investigator. The court began considering the application on August 14, but postponed the hearing.
