Nearly half a million chickens to be culled in Japan due to bird flu

About 460 thousand laying hens will be destroyed in Japan due to bird flu. This order was issued by the authorities of Hokkaido prefecture in the north of the country, reports NHK channel.

Cases of bird deaths were discovered at a farm in the city of Shiraoi. Tests showed that the chickens were infected with bird flu.

The procedure itself will be completed by the end of the month, and the poultry farm where the disease was detected will be disinfected.
