Man refused euthanasia after 150 farewell dinners with strangers

An artist suffering from bipolar disorder held 150 farewell dinners with strangers and changed his mind about undergoing euthanasia. His story was told by The New York Times.
In December last year, 28-year-old Ghanaian artist Joseph Awuah-Darko published an emotional video on Instagram (owner Meta is recognized as extremist in Russia and banned) in which he talked about his decision to end his suffering through euthanasia and announced that he was going to the Netherlands for legal termination of life.
Three days later, Awuah-Darko launched "The Last Supper Project," inviting anyone interested to have a farewell dinner with him and share a meal. Over the course of six months, he attended more than 150 dinners in various European countries, finding meaning and support in communicating with new people.
At the last dinner, the man met his love, and at the end of July, he proposed. According to Awuah-Darko, this meeting changed his outlook on life and made him finally abandon the idea of euthanasia.
"I met someone who made the idea of staying more acceptable than the idea of leaving," the artist admitted.
