Media: Trump gave guarantees to Ukraine regardless of the outcome of the Alaska summit

US President Donald Trump during closed-door negotiations assured his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky and G7 leaders that military supplies to Ukraine would continue regardless of the outcome of the upcoming meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
This is reported by Axios, citing informed sources.
According to the publication, the American leader sought to dispel allies' concerns about a possible repetition of the "Yalta scenario" in Alaska.
"In private calls to Zelensky and other G7 leaders this week, Trump tried to reassure them, stating that if the meeting with Putin proves unsuccessful, he will continue to arm Ukraine, two sources familiar with the conversations told Axios," the publication says.
According to the sources, Trump's guarantees were perceived as an attempt to reduce tension among European partners who fear unilateral agreements between Washington and Moscow. According to Axios, the prospect of making decisions about Ukraine without its direct participation is causing particular concern.
