Man in Japan called emergency services 1600 times in a month

In Japan, a Tokyo resident was detained for calling emergency services hundreds of times in a month. This is reported by Japan Today.
36-year-old Shigenari Kurosawa was arrested. Between July 1 and 28, he dialed the emergency number more than 1600 times, but never said a word. Each time, upon hearing the operator's voice, the man immediately hung up.
Kurosawa admitted to calling emergency services, but refused to explain the reason for his actions. He was charged with deliberately interfering with the work of emergency responders. Additionally, police found that similar silent calls had been recorded in Tokyo since January 2024, and are now investigating whether Kurosawa was involved in those as well.
