Iran Denied Resumption of Negotiations with the US

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei stated that Tehran did not request the resumption of negotiations with Washington, consultations are not currently underway, but the exchange of messages through intermediaries is still possible, TASS reports.

"Intermediaries can convey messages to us from the American side regarding current events in the region, but at present we have no negotiations with the American side," he said at a briefing.

According to Baghaei, Iran has not requested any negotiations since the latest escalation.

"The request for negotiations from Iran's side is a piece of news that opponents publish from time to time," the Foreign Ministry spokesperson added.

The latest escalation of the American-Iranian conflict began on July 8. The U.S. Armed Forces, for the first time since the signing of the memorandum between Washington and Tehran, carried out several series of strikes on the territory of the Islamic Republic, allegedly in response to an attack on a merchant vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. On the same day, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the end of the ceasefire with Iran. As part of retaliatory actions, Tehran began attacking U.S. Middle Eastern facilities located in Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, and Oman. On July 24, the sides ceased exchanging strikes.
