In Japan, perfume with the scent of a newborn baby has been developed, reports Sora News. The product is the result of six years of research at Kobe University.

A team led by Mamiko Ozaki, an honorary professor at the university and a specialist in taste and smell physiology, in collaboration with doctors from Hamamatsu University School of Medicine, as well as pregnant women and recent mothers, collected scent samples from approximately 20 newborns. As a result, they were able to identify 37 components that define this aroma.

The key substance turned out to be nonanal - a chemical compound with a floral note, which, according to scientists, babies release to encourage gentle interaction with parents. The perfume was named Poupon Pure and is positioned not only as a fragrance but also as a means for relaxation before sleep or during meditation. The product idea came to Ozaki after many years of studying pheromones in ants and reflecting on how scents can strengthen social bonds between people.

Currently, the entire batch is sold out, and bottles can only be purchased by pre-order - priced at $20 for 5 ml. New supplies are expected between mid-August and early September.
