Donald Trump nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize: Ilham Aliyev among those supporting the candidacy

The White House administration is actively promoting President Donald Trump's candidacy for the Nobel Peace Prize.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Oxu.Az, an official statement published a list of foreign leaders who have expressed support for the American president on this issue.
The list includes:
- President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev;
- Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan;
- Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Sen;
- President of Gabon Brice Oligui Nguema;
- Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu;
- Government of Pakistan;
- Foreign Minister of Rwanda Olivier Nduhungirehe.
Previously, Trump himself repeatedly emphasized his peacemaking achievements in the international arena. According to him, he contributed to ending conflicts between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, reducing tensions between India and Pakistan, as well as normalizing relations between Serbia and Kosovo.
The US president pays special attention to his role in "maintaining peace between Egypt and Ethiopia" and implementing the "Abraham Accords" - a historic pact aimed at normalizing relations between Israel and several Arab states.
Trump has also made attempts to facilitate reconciliation between Ukraine and Russia, however, no significant results have been achieved in this direction so far.
Notably, the initiative to nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize was also put forward during the trilateral meeting in Washington, when President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev proposed to appeal to the Nobel Committee together with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
"Donald Trump deserves this. He was able to complete a lengthy negotiation process in a short time. Together with the Prime Minister of Armenia, we can write a letter and appeal to the Nobel Committee," said the President of Azerbaijan during a joint statement.
The Nobel Peace Prize is one of the five prizes established by Swedish inventor and industrialist Alfred Nobel who, despite his activities in the field of arms production, sought to contribute to strengthening peace. Unlike other Nobel prizes awarded in Sweden, peace prize laureates are determined in Oslo, Norway.
The prize amount varies depending on the profitability of the Nobel Foundation's investments and the current exchange rate, but on average is about 100 million Swedish kronor (approximately 1 million US dollars). In 2025, 338 candidates are competing for this prestigious award.
