Horrifying footage of the devastating earthquake in Venezuela — 164 victims

The death toll from the earthquake in northern Venezuela has reached 164, with the number of injured rising to 971.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Venezuelan media, this was announced by the authorized president of the republic Delcy Rodríguez.

At the same time, she did not rule out the possibility of a further increase in the death toll from the natural disaster.

"There are dozens of collapsed buildings," Rodríguez said, describing "very complex rescue operations to save lives."

Initially, 32 deaths and 700 injuries were reported as a result of two devastating earthquakes in Venezuela.

As a reminder, on the night of June 25, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 struck northern Venezuela. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) later reported two tremors with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, occurring 40 seconds apart. The country's authorities declared a state of emergency.

Immense damage has been caused to buildings across Venezuela, following what now appears to have been a double-event 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquake back-to-back near the coast in Northern Venezuela.
