Presidents of Turkey and the United States Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Donald Trump held a telephone conversation.

Erdogan expressed confidence in the development of cooperation between Turkey and the United States in the new period as allies.

He supported the decisive steps of the US President to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, noting that Turkey has been making efforts since the beginning of the conflict to achieve a fair and sustainable peace and will continue to work in this direction.

Erdogan emphasized the importance of joint efforts to restore stability in Syria, the work of the new government and the lifting of sanctions to normalize the situation, which will allow Syrians to return to their homeland.

The Turkish leader noted that in the new period, US steps are expected in the fight against terrorism, and also emphasized the need to lift CAATSA sanctions, complete the F-16 delivery process and return Turkey to the F-35 program to develop cooperation between the two countries in the defense industry.
