Elon Musk predicted the death of smartphones
Modern smartphones may soon become a thing of the past - within just a few years, they will be replaced by new devices with artificial intelligence.
As BAKU.WS reports with reference to foreign media, this forecast was made by American entrepreneur Elon Musk.
"What we call a phone today will transform into a node for video analysis using AI and radio modules for communication. Essentially, you'll have AI on a server that will interact with AI on your device," the billionaire said on Joe Rogan's podcast.
According to Musk, new gadgets will be controlled by voice, gaze, and neural signals. The entrepreneur not only believes in this future but is actively working on it through his neural interface project Neuralink.
Musk notes that the development of such technologies is already underway: OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and former Apple chief designer Jony Ive are jointly creating a new device. Their project is based on the developments of Ive's company, which OpenAI previously acquired and integrated into its structure. Altman expects that the first prototype could be presented by the end of 2026.
How this gadget will look remains unknown. Musk believes it won't need a screen at all - thanks to this, the device could take the form of a watch, bracelet, brooch, or other accessory.
In the long term, according to Musk, robots and AI will be able to take over most physical work, which in turn will give people the opportunity to earn higher incomes.
