Earth may be hit by magnetic storms up to G3 level this weekend
Magnetic storms are expected on Earth this weekend, the strength of which may reach level G3 (strong).
As reported by BAKU.WS, this was announced by the laboratory of solar astronomy at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
According to scientists, new disturbances of the magnetosphere at levels 2 and 3 on a five-point scale are predicted for September 13-14. The cause of the increased activity is a large equatorial coronal hole that has moved to the center of the solar disk and is forming flows directed toward Earth.
Specialists also noted that the first 10 days of September have already brought three planetary-scale magnetic storms, indicating unusually high geomagnetic activity.
