Dangerous bacteria found in popular Russian sausage products

Russian quality control organization found a dangerous bacterium in popular kupaty (meat sausages) produced by "Myasnitsky Ryad" that can affect the human central nervous system. According to the Mash Telegram channel, this microorganism can cause serious diseases, including meningitis, encephalitis, and in some cases lead to death.
During a routine inspection of meat semi-finished products from various manufacturers, violations were found in seven companies. In "Ostankino" products, sulfanilamide was detected - an antimicrobial drug that, when consumed in large doses, can cause allergic reactions, nausea, vomiting, neuritis, and kidney failure.
Sausages and kupaty of brands "Auchan," "Restoria," "Slovo myasnika," "Myasnitsky Ryad," and "Blizhnie Gorki" contained undeclared carrageenan. In significant doses, this substance can provoke ulcerative lesions, bloating, intestinal inflammation, destruction of the mucous membrane, and disruption of sugar metabolism.
After discovering the violations, Roskachestvo initiated an unscheduled inspection of "Myasnitsky Ryad." Company representatives stated their readiness to eliminate the identified violations and have already informed the production facility about the problem.
The "Ostankino" company received warnings and penalties. Additionally, the declaration of conformity for the meat processing plant's production was suspended. Other manufacturers promised to study the inspection results, contact suppliers, and conduct necessary research.
In its official Telegram channel, Roskachestvo confirmed the completion of a large-scale study of 19 popular brands of meat semi-finished products for grilling, including 11 brands of kupaty and 8 brands of sausages. The products were checked against 162 indicators of quality, safety, and labeling accuracy, as well as organoleptic properties. "In one sample, pathogenic bacteria causing listeriosis were detected. All semi-finished products were tested for the presence of coliform bacteria and total microbial count, with no violations found for these indicators. For the first time in a long while, antibiotics were detected," the agency noted.
