Chips with the flavor of a nine-volt battery have gone viral online
Snack company Rewind has introduced a product designed to turn one of the strangest childhood memories into a bold gastronomic experience.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Dexerto publication, the brand has released chips with the flavor of a nine-volt battery, also known in CIS countries as "Krona".
According to the manufacturer, the flavor reproduces the metallic taste and characteristic tingling sensation on the tongue that occurs when in contact with battery terminals. Ingredients such as citric acid, sodium bicarbonate, and mineral salts are used to achieve this effect. The product aims to evoke a sense of nostalgia in consumers and awaken curiosity.
The launch of battery-flavored chips is part of Rewind's mission to "revive retro memories through unexpected flavors." The Netherlands will be the first country where the new product will go on sale.
In addition to the extravagant novelty, the Rewind chips line includes more classic flavors: "Cheese and Onion," "Spicy Sriracha," "Creamy Paprika," and "BBQ and Honey."
The company especially emphasizes that, despite the new flavor of chips, it does not recommend or approve attempts to lick, bite, or otherwise taste real batteries.
