# A Huge Object Was Spotted on the Sun
In the northeast of the Sun, astronomers have detected an unusually large formation. The Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported the appearance of a "prominence of completely inadequate size".
According to specialists, the giant prominence is an accumulation of heated gases that have risen above the surface of the star. Its dimensions are so large that the phenomenon can be observed even with amateur telescopes.
Scientists note that the Sun, apparently, is attempting to "rid itself" of this mass by ejecting it into space in parts. However, so far these attempts have been unsuccessful. With a probability of about 90%, researchers assume, a complete eruption will occur within the next 24 hours.
