Russian ophthalmologist, microsurgeon, and candidate of medical sciences Svetlana Mirgorodskaya identified three dangerous diseases that can cause a sharp deterioration or even complete loss of vision. The list includes retinal detachment, hemorrhage into the vitreous body, and anterior ischemic neuropathy.

According to the specialist, retinal detachment occurs due to tears or pathological growths in the retina of the eye. This condition can be recognized by characteristic symptoms: sudden flashes of light, lightning in the field of vision, or the appearance of floating dark spots. These signs require immediate medical attention.

Hemorrhage into the vitreous body, also known as hemophthalmia, can be provoked by various factors - eye trauma, high blood pressure, retinal tears, or complications of diabetes. Patients with this condition complain of floating dark elements in the field of vision, fogging, or a "cloudy" effect in front of the eyes.

Mirgorodskaya also noted that disruption of blood flow in the retinal vessels can cause the sudden appearance of a dark spot or temporary vision loss, especially in the morning hours. Anterior ischemic neuropathy manifests with similar symptoms - the appearance of a spot or blurred vision. The expert emphasized that such complications often occur after infectious diseases.

"With any alarming symptoms, it is necessary to consult a doctor as soon as possible: timely treatment directly affects the likelihood of restoring visual functions," the ophthalmologist emphasized.
