Chewing gum lovers warned about unpleasant consequences
Those who constantly chew gum throughout the day may face serious health problems. Dentist Ekaterina Tsybina from the "Scandinavian Health Center" warned about this, explaining the possible consequences of this habit.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to "Lenta.ru", according to the doctor, prolonged and continuous chewing leads to improper distribution of load on the chewing muscles and temporomandibular joint, which increases the risk of microtraumas.
Tsybina explained that initially a person may experience fatigue in the cheeks and temples, and by the end of the day - pain in the chewing muscles. Over time, clicking or crackling occurs when opening the mouth, a feeling of "jamming" during wide yawning, and limitation of jaw movement amplitude. Some people also experience headaches in the temporal-occipital area, stuffiness or noise in the ears, as well as discomfort in the neck area.
At the same time, the specialist emphasized that it is not necessary to completely give up chewing gum. According to her, the optimal option is to use sugar-free gum for 10-20 minutes after eating, excluding constant background chewing throughout the day.
