# A Simple Way to Protect Your Lungs from Dirty Air Has Been Named

Eating fruit helps reduce the harmful effects of polluted air on the lungs. This was stated by pulmonologist Dr. Jimmy Johannes in an interview with Women"s Health.
As BAKU.WS reports, citing Women"s Health, the specialist noted that the effectiveness of this simple method is confirmed by the results of a recent study. According to the data, people who regularly consume fruit experienced significantly less deterioration in lung function after exposure to polluted air than those who avoid fruit.
According to Johannes, the reason for this effect is the high content of anti-inflammatory substances in all types of fruit. These substances protect the lungs from oxidative stress caused by dirty air.
The doctor emphasized that noticeable benefits are only apparent with regular and sufficient consumption of fruit - at least 400 grams per day.
