A new function has appeared in WhatsApp

WhatsApp messenger has begun testing a new feature that will allow users to import their profile photos directly from Instagram social network, according to WABetaInfo portal, which discovered the innovation in the beta version of the Android app.

Currently, to set a profile photo in WhatsApp, you can take a picture with the camera, select an image from the gallery, or generate it using AI. The new feature will add two more options: import from Facebook and import from Instagram.

The developers emphasize that the feature will be optional and disabled by default. To use it, you will need to link accounts through the "Meta Account Center" (recognized as extremist and banned in Russia). It is claimed that this step will not affect end-to-end encryption and other aspects of messaging privacy in WhatsApp.

The new capability was spotted in the WhatsApp beta for Android with build number 2.25.21.23 and is already available to a limited number of testers. The timeline for its appearance in the stable version for all users has not yet been announced.
