Russian mixed martial arts fighter Islam Makhachev repeated a unique achievement in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). This became possible thanks to his victory over Australian Jack Della Maddalena.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Gazeta.ru, Makhachev won his 16th consecutive fight in the promotion. Previously, only one fighter had achieved such a streak - Brazilian Anderson Silva. Apart from them, no one has been able to reach this milestone.

Islam made his UFC debut in 2015, defeating US representative Leo Kuntz. He then lost to Brazilian Adriano Martins, suffering the only defeat in his career. After that, the Russian has never lost.

At UFC 322, Makhachev defeated Maddalena in five rounds by unanimous decision of the judges. All referees gave identical scores: 50-45, 50-45, 50-45. Islam, who announced his move from lightweight to welterweight in spring, became the first Russian UFC champion in two categories in history. Additionally, he became the 11th fighter in the promotion to achieve this feat. Previously, this was accomplished by fighters including Conor McGregor and Ilia Topuria.
