FIFA World Cup 2026: Iran drew with New Zealand

On the night of June 15-16, the Group G Matchday 1 game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup took place between the national teams of Iran and New Zealand. The match was held at SoFi Stadium (Inglewood, USA). César Ramos Palazuelos from Mexico served as the head referee of the match.

As reported by BAKU.WS, in the 33rd minute, Iranian national team defender Ramin Rezaeian restored parity. Earlier, in the seventh minute, New Zealand striker Elijah Just had opened the scoring. In the second half, Just scored a brace and put New Zealand ahead, but shortly after, Rostov midfielder Mohammad Mohebi equalized. No more goals were seen by the spectators in this match, with the final score being 2:2.

In Matchday 2 of Group G, the Iranian national team will face Belgium (June 21), and in Matchday 3 - Egypt (June 27). New Zealand will play against Egypt in Matchday 2 (June 22) and against Belgium in Matchday 3 (June 27).
