2026 World Cup: Turkey defeated Romania and advanced to the playoff final
Playoff matches for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification have kicked off in Europe.
As reported by Oxu.Az, the first match of the evening took place in Istanbul between the national teams of Turkey and Romania. The match ended with a narrow victory for the home side - 1:0. The only goal was scored by Ferdi Kadıoğlu in the 54th minute.
Turkey will face the winner of the Slovakia - Kosovo pair in the final.
The remaining matches of the evening kick off at 23:45 Baku time.
As a reminder, following the playoffs from the European zone, four national teams will secure berths in the final stage of the 2026 World Cup. The decisive matches will take place on March 31.
