Punishment assigned to a woman who burned her children's hands

A woman who burned the hands of her young children in Absheron district has been brought to criminal responsibility.

As Qafqazinfo reports, Arzu Yusifova (name and surname are conditional, born in 1992) is charged under Article 133.2.4 (torture committed against a known minor or a person known to the perpetrator to be in a helpless state) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The investigation established that in 2016, Arzu married a man named Ruslan. In 2017, they had a son, and in 2019, a daughter. However, in 2021, the couple divorced.

Some time ago, Ruslan contacted the police after seeing that his ex-wife had injured their children. A criminal case was opened on this fact, and A.Yusifova was subjected to a preventive measure in the form of arrest.

A few days ago, the Absheron District Court sentenced the woman to a suspended sentence with a probation period of 2 years.
