Members of a religious sect detained for an action near the "28 Mall" shopping center

In the center of Baku, on Azadlyg Avenue opposite the 28 Mall shopping center, police detained two men who unfurled a two-meter banner with slogans promoting a non-traditional religion called "Ahmadi Peace and Light" (AROPL). The banner also contained inscriptions stating that a certain Abdullah Hashim had already appeared to the world.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Qafqazinfo, the detained were 38-year-old Teymur Aliyev and 24-year-old Hasan Javadov. The banner they unfurled near the shopping center attracted the attention of passersby and caused disputes. Police officers who arrived at the scene demanded they roll up the banner and proceed to the 22nd police station for investigation. However, the men refused to comply with the lawful demands of law enforcement officers and continued their actions.
As a result, Aliyev and Javadov were taken to the station, where administrative offense reports were drawn up against them. By decision of the Nasimi District Court, both were arrested for 10 days.
Notably, the detainees call themselves followers of the AROPL religion, founded by a certain Abdullah Hashim Aba El-Sadiq, who lives in the USA. The 42-year-old Abdullah Hashim some time ago declared himself the Second Imam Mahdi and proclaimed the religion he created.
This is not the first time that AROPL adherents have organized actions in Baku. Previously, they had already conducted a similar event at Fountains Square.
