Today is the birthday of People's Artist of Azerbaijan, outstanding theater and film actor Siyavush Aslan.
As BAKU.WS reminds, one of the prominent representatives of the national school of realistic acting, S. Aslan was born on September 5, 1935 in Baku.
From 1947 to 1953, he performed in the drama circles of Atamoglan Rzayev, Agadadash Gurbanov, Gurban Musayev, and Agasalim Manafli.
In 1954, he was accepted into the variety troupe of the Azerbaijan State Theater of Musical Comedy, and in 1958 — into the Guba State Drama Theater.
Returning to Baku in 1959, Siyavush began working as an understudy at the Azerbaijan State Theater of Musical Comedy. That same year, having successfully played the role of Gosha in Agasi Meshadibekov's play Toy kimindir? ("Whose Wedding?"), he was promoted to the main cast. On the stage of the Musical Comedy Theater, he created vivid, memorable characters beloved by audiences, such as Bayram ("Song of Our Village," Kerim Kerimov), Ibishov ("We Know Ourselves," Shikhali Gurbanov), Dadashbala ("Hijran," Sabit Rahman), Hamzali ("The Kidnapped Girl," Jahangir Mammadov) and others.
For many years, S. Aslan was one of the leading actors of the Azerbaijan State Theater of Musical Comedy, and from 1994 to 1996 served as its artistic director.
In 1974, Siyavush Aslan was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR, and in 1982 — People's Artist.
The actor was awarded a Presidential pension and decorated with the orders "Shohrat" (1995) and "Sharaf" (2013).
S. Aslan passed away in 2013 in Baku after a serious illness. He was buried in the second Alley of Honorary Burial.
