iPhone users urged to update iOS urgently

Apple announced the release of iOS 18.4.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.4.1 updates aimed at addressing serious security issues. This was reported by MacRumors portal.

Apple emphasized that the discovered vulnerabilities may have been used in an "extremely sophisticated attack" targeting specific users, and urged everyone to update the software on their devices.

One of the vulnerabilities identified in CoreAudio allowed attackers to execute malicious code through malicious audio files. To prevent such threats, Apple strengthened memory protection by implementing improved boundary checking methods.

The second issue involved bypassing pointer authentication, which allowed attackers to gain access to memory. To prevent such attacks, the company removed the vulnerable code.

The software updates are already available for download, and Apple strongly recommends installing them immediately to ensure maximum protection of user data.

The update to iOS 18.4.1 is available for iPhone XS, 11, SE 2020 and more recent models.
