33 years have passed since the founding of AZAL

33 years have passed since the establishment of CJSC "Azerbaijan Airlines" (AZAL), a key infrastructure of the country's civil aviation and a full member of the international aviation community.

AZAL was founded on April 7, 1992, by a decision of the republic's government after gaining independence.

AZAL's headquarters is located in Baku, at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, which meets the high requirements of international standards.

In 2004, by the decision of Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev, Baku's "Bina" airport was renamed "Heydar Aliyev International Airport".

Currently, the CJSC includes the following structures: National air carrier "Azerbaijan Airlines", Azerbaijan's low-cost air carrier Buta Airways, Air Traffic Control "Azeraeronavigation" AZANS, National Aviation Academy, Main Aviation Security Department (ASD), AZALOIL Fuel Management Department, Heydar Aliyev International Airport, Ganja International Airport, Lankaran International Airport, Zagatala International Airport, Gabala International Airport, Fuzuli International Airport, Zangilan International Airport, Lachin International Airport, Yevlakh airport, branches and representative offices.

Azerbaijan Airlines is a major air carrier and one of the leaders in the aviation community of CIS countries with the most modern aircraft fleet. It is among the leaders in the civil aviation industry in terms of passenger service quality. This is confirmed by high positions in the recognized international Skytrax rating.

The dynamically developing airline has repeatedly confirmed its prestigious "4-star" rating from the British consulting company Skytrax.

"Azerbaijan Airlines" is always working on expanding its route network - in addition to numerous regular destinations, the carrier often opens new seasonal and charter routes.

AZAL offers its passengers the most relevant services, as well as a full range of technological solutions to make travel as comfortable as possible.

Azerbaijan's civil aviation aircraft fully comply with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and AZAL is a member of the most prestigious civil aviation association - the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Azerbaijan's national air carrier is also a member of the board of the Azerbaijan Tourism Association (AZTA).

Heydar Aliyev International Airport, which has been awarded the maximum award from Skytrax World Airport Awards - "5 stars", has also repeatedly topped the rating of the best airports in CIS countries.
