Zhaparov: Azerbaijan organized WUF13 at the highest level
President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov expressed gratitude to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for the impeccable organization of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, Sadyr Japarov said this at the Leaders' Summit within the framework of WUF13.
"I would like to thank the esteemed President Ilham Aliyev and the brotherly people of Azerbaijan for the warm reception and for organizing the WUF13 forum at the highest level," Japarov said.
Japarov also emphasized that WUF13 is a unique platform for discussing issues of urbanization, sustainable development, climate change, and affordable housing.
"We bear responsibility for creating decent living conditions for our citizens. Cities have become centers of economic development, innovation, as well as human capital. At the same time, cities are the first to face the consequences of climate change, infrastructure overload, housing problems, as well as security issues. That is precisely why the development of the housing stock and housing construction remains a priority for Kyrgyzstan," he said.
The President of Kyrgyzstan recalled that in 2025, more than 1.8 million square meters of housing were commissioned in the country. Also, according to him, the city of Bishkek has significant experience in implementing urban governance reform.
"Currently, urban infrastructure is being modernized, and public transportation is being updated. We pay special attention to greening the city, as well as to improving energy efficiency. At the end of last year, the first waste processing plant in Central Asia was opened in Bishkek," he said.
Japarov also invited forum participants to visit the exhibition pavilion of Kyrgyzstan at WUF13.
"I am confident that the results of this forum will be best practices for developing solutions. In order to guarantee sustainable well-being and prosperity of our countries. We are convinced that through joint efforts we will be able to build inclusive and comfortable cities for future generations, where people, nature, and progress exist in harmony," he said.
