Why was Pashinyan greeted in China with Azerbaijani music?

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his wife Anna Hakobyan participated in an official reception in China as part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit. However, one episode of this event caused widespread resonance.

Pashinyan published footage from the reception on his Facebook page. The video shows that at the moment when the Armenian Prime Minister and his wife enter the hall to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife, Azerbaijani music is playing. According to experts, it was a performance of one of the songs by legendary Azerbaijani singer Rashid Behbudov.

Notably, the music was interrupted after just a few seconds. The publication of this footage by the RA Prime Minister caused widespread interest in the Azerbaijani segment of social networks. Users considered it not accidental that Pashinyan was greeted specifically with an Azerbaijani melody, regarding this as a symbolic moment.
