Who is the newly appointed Deputy Minister of Finance of Azerbaijan? - Dossier

By the decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated October 30, 2026, Sadig Aliyev was appointed the new Deputy Minister of Finance of Azerbaijan under Minister Sahil Babayev.

Sadig Aliyev was born in 1984. He graduated with honors from the bachelor's and master's programs of the Faculty of Finance and Credit at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics. He began his professional career in 2005 in the private sector.

From 2006 to 2019, he held various managerial positions at the Secretariat of the Tariff (Price) Council. In 2019, he served as acting head of the tariff policy department of the Ministry of Economy.

From 2019 to 2024, he headed the department of strategic planning and innovations at the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population. In 2024, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of the State Employment Agency, where he worked until January 2026.

On January 8, 2026, S. Aliyev was appointed Director of the State Treasury Agency under the Ministry of Finance.

He has been awarded the medal "For Distinguished State Service." He is also a member of the Board of the World Association of Public Employment Services (WAPES) and the "Yeni Azerbaijan" party.

He is married and has three children.
