# What issues will be discussed at the CICA summit in Baku?

The 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) is being held in Baku.

As reported by Baku TV, the summit, which is being held under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan, is discussing issues of regional security, strengthening mutual trust, and expanding cooperation among Asian countries.

Since December 2024, Azerbaijan has been chairing the organization, guided by the concept of "A Stronger CICA: Connectivity, Digitalization and Sustainable Development in Asia."

The summit's focus is on future cooperation priorities among member states, institutional development of the organization, and regional issues.

It is expected that the documents to be adopted at the conclusion of the event will contribute to strengthening security, stability, and an atmosphere of trust in Asia.

It should be noted that the initiative to establish CICA was put forward by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev on October 5, 1992, at the 47th session of the UN General Assembly. Azerbaijan, which was among the founding states, joined the organization in 1999.

Currently, CICA unites 28 states. It is expected that after the approval of Laos's membership, their number will reach 29.
