The signing of a Joint Declaration between Ilham Aliyev and Nikol Pashinyan is expected

The signing of a Joint Declaration between President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is expected in Washington in the presence of US President Donald Trump, reports Trend.
It is known that Azerbaijan put forward two main conditions for signing a peace agreement with Armenia:
- a joint appeal to the OSCE on the issue of liquidation of the Minsk Group;
- amendments to the constitution of Armenia to eliminate territorial claims against Azerbaijan.
The Joint Declaration to be signed confirms that Azerbaijan and Armenia will send a joint appeal to the OSCE Secretary General on the liquidation of the Minsk Group. It also recognizes the need for subsequent steps to sign and ratify the Agreement on establishing interstate relations and peace between the two countries after initialing its text. In other words, it confirms the need to amend the constitution of Armenia as one of the key conditions for concluding a final peace agreement.
After the Patriotic War, President Ilham Aliyev repeatedly stated that unhindered land passage from the main part of Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan should be ensured. This requirement of the head of state was also accepted by the Armenian side. Thus, the Joint Declaration will confirm the provision of unhindered movement between the main part of the country and Nakhchivan. This will implement the Zangezur Corridor project.
