The President signed a law on new measures to combat corruption
Amendments have been made to a number of laws of Azerbaijan in connection with the implementation of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 150-VIIQD dated March 7, 2025, "On Amendments to the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan 'On Combating Corruption'."
As reported by BAKU.WS, the corresponding law was signed by President Ilham Aliyev.
According to the amendments, the participation of an authorized structural subdivision or official responsible for combating corruption in the attestation process of persons who have reported corruption offenses is prohibited. Furthermore, when disciplinary sanctions are applied against such persons for the purpose of persecution, the burden of proving the validity of the claims brought forward is now placed on the employer.
The amendments also stipulate that state and municipal employees, in cases related to the illegal receipt of material and non-material benefits, privileges, and advantages, will be required to report this not to their immediate supervisor, but to the authorized structural subdivision or official responsible for combating corruption.
A similar mechanism will also be applied to matters related to the receipt of gifts, conflicts of interest, and compliance with ethical conduct rules.
