The next round of consular consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Iran took place in the Iranian capital Tehran.

As reported by BAKU.WS, the Azerbaijani delegation was headed by the Chief of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Emil Safarov, and the Iranian delegation was led by the Director General of the country's foreign policy department, Mojtaba Shasti Karimi.

The event was also attended by employees of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Iran and the Consulate General in Tabriz, officials from foreign ministries, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Internal Affairs, migration and border services of the two countries.

During the consultations, views were exchanged on the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation in the consular sphere. The parties held discussions on protecting the rights and legitimate interests of citizens of both countries, providing them with prompt and effective consular and legal assistance, and reached an agreement on intensifying cooperation to eliminate emerging difficulties.

An exchange of views was held on bilateral cooperation between the internal affairs bodies, justice, migration, border and customs services, and the importance of joint activities to strengthen ties in the respective areas was emphasized.

Also, as part of the consultations, the Azerbaijani delegation was received by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Vahid Jalalzadeh.
