PEA issued a call to AK Parti: Irresponsible statements about Azerbaijan must come to an end
In connection with the statements made by the advisor to the President of the Republic of Turkey, Oktay Saral, and deputies of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Parti) regarding Azerbaijan, the press service of the "New Azerbaijan" Party (YAP) has issued a statement.
As reported by BAKU.WS, it states:
"Over a prolonged period, a number of Turkish media outlets and social media platforms, including information resources known for their proximity to the ruling AK Parti, have been disseminating inaccurate, biased information about Azerbaijan that is slanderous and insinuating in nature.
Taking into account the partnership relations established between YAP and AK Parti, as well as the historical bonds of brotherhood and friendship uniting the peoples of Azerbaijan and Turkey, we have until now exercised restraint regarding such cases. Our aim was to prevent the irresponsible behavior of certain circles from negatively affecting the relations between our states and peoples.
However, recently the information campaign directed against Azerbaijan has acquired a more aggressive, systematic, and openly slanderous character. In particular, the fact that a person holding the position of chief advisor to the President of Turkey, as well as deputies of AK Parti, have joined this campaign makes it necessary to openly express our position on this matter.
First and foremost, we firmly reject attempts to deliberately distort Azerbaijani-Israeli relations, to portray these ties as allegedly exclusive, and to use this as a basis for leveling political accusations against Azerbaijan. The Republic of Azerbaijan maintains normal interstate relations with Israel based on the norms of international law and mutual interests.
Azerbaijan's position on the Palestinian issue is consistent, clear, and principled. Our country has consistently supported the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and has provided Palestine with financial and humanitarian assistance. President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa have visited Azerbaijan at different times. The operations of the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Azerbaijan are also ensured with the financial support of the Azerbaijani state.
President Ilham Aliyev has repeatedly stated from the highest international platforms that Azerbaijan supports the settlement of the Palestinian issue on the basis of international law and relevant UN resolutions, within the framework of the "two-state" principle, envisaging East Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Palestine. Azerbaijan's position regarding the events in Gaza is also based on humanitarian values, the protection of the civilian population, and international law.
Azerbaijan's relations with the Islamic world are also driven not by the current political conjuncture, but by the principles of mutual respect, equality, and solidarity. Our country's contribution to strengthening Islamic solidarity is highly appreciated by Muslim states. The intention to hold the next summit
