Non-oil priority: a significant contribution to creating new jobs
The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev opened a mineral rock wool production plant and a pharmaceutical production enterprise. This became a vivid testimony to the important significance given in our country to the development of the non-oil sector.
The priority direction of Azerbaijan's economic development today is not the oil industry, but other sectors - agriculture, tourism, IT and other areas with the aim of ensuring stable development in the long term. This is due to the fact that the government seeks to diversify the economy, which will be less dependent on oil revenues and will become more resistant to oil price fluctuations.
Key economic sectors
As a result of the successful economic policy pursued by our country, along with achieving economic diversification, the share of the non-oil sector in GDP has significantly increased, writes the newspaper "Caspian".
At the same time, one of the key areas of the non-oil sector is the production and processing of agricultural products, as this is of particular importance in the socio-economic life of the country.
A number of legislative acts have been adopted, including state programs aimed at strengthening state support for the rapid development of such agricultural sectors as cotton growing, viticulture, sericulture, tobacco growing, meeting the demand for agricultural products, improving the supply of raw materials to processing enterprises and expanding the processing industry.
All this has led to significant results in the development of traditional agriculture in the country, increasing employment and reducing poverty in the regions.
In Azerbaijan, comprehensive measures are already being taken to create a new profile of the agricultural sector - agroparks - an economic entity that combines the production, processing, logistics and other services of agricultural products into one chain. There are already about 40 of them.
In the past, our lands occupied by Armenia were territories with great economic potential, mainly in the field of agriculture. Currently, a Strategic Action Plan for the liberated territories has been developed, and the restoration of all territories and cities is being carried out on the basis of a unified concept. Work is underway to develop new mechanisms and criteria for land reform in the liberated areas, as well as to develop important agricultural sectors such as animal husbandry, horticulture, vegetable growing, viticulture and grain cultivation.
Not by bread alone
Along with the agro-industrial sector in Azerbaijan, other spheres of the economy are developing by leaps and bounds, in particular industrial ones.
Thus, on November 27, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev took part in the opening of the AZWOOL mineral rock wool production plant of "Matanat-A" company. This company, which has been operating in the construction materials production sector for 25 years, includes factories for the production of dry construction mixtures "Matanat-A", gypsum board and gypsum-based products AĞDAĞ, lime production, equipment and machines AZERLİME, and the ELBERG machine-building plant. In total, about 1,000 jobs have been created at the company's enterprises.
