The visit of European Commission Vice-President Kaja Kallas to Baku has begun.

BAKU.WS was informed about this by the European Union (EU) representation in Azerbaijan.

Kallas stated that Azerbaijan is a valued and reliable energy partner for the EU, and therefore she is glad to be in Baku.

"There is clear potential for deepening our cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade, transport, and digital technologies. Strengthening ties between the EU, the South Caucasus, and Central Asia serves our shared strategic interests, and we are ready to discuss a more structured partnership with Azerbaijan," she said.

The EU representative emphasized that progress in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia is a historic opportunity, and it is important to maintain this momentum.

"The EU has a range of tools to support this process - from confidence-building measures to demining activities, and in these areas we are already the largest donor," she added.
