Hikmet Hajiyev: Azerbaijan's experience can be applied in other post-conflict regions

The experience accumulated by Azerbaijan in post-war reconstruction and the return of populations can be applied in other regions of the world affected by conflicts and wars.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was stated by the Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev, addressing the diplomatic corps in Khankendi.

He noted that the mine threat continues to hinder the reconstruction of the liberated territories and the safe return of the population.

According to Hajiyev, another mine incident occurred the day before, and on the way to Khankendi, information was received about yet another similar incident, in which a civilian was injured.

"This hinders our efforts in restoration and reconstruction, but it cannot undermine our determination to continue this work as soon as possible and ensure the dignified and safe return of former internally displaced persons to their native lands," he emphasized.

The Presidential Assistant reported that to date, more than 40,000 former internally displaced persons have returned to Karabakh, and their number will continue to grow. Also, since 2020, more than 45 settlements have been restored and reconstructed.

According to him, currently about 100,000 citizens live, work, and study in Karabakh.

Hajiyev called this a unique experience accumulated by Azerbaijan in the field of post-conflict restoration and reconstruction.

He added that the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held by Azerbaijan in May of this year once again demonstrated the importance of cooperation, interaction, as well as the exchange of experience and knowledge in this field.
