EU and Azerbaijan discussed partnership and regional cooperation issues
Director General of the European Commission for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Gert Jan Koopman held productive talks with official representatives of Azerbaijan.
As reported by BAKU.WS, Koopman shared this on his account on the social network X.
"Issues of the peace agenda, regional cooperation, and partnership between the European Union and Azerbaijan were discussed. With the Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev and (Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan for Special Assignments - ed.) Elchin Amirbayov, there was an exchange of views on EU support in demining, socio-economic development, and the next steps in coordination on the Middle Corridor," the post states.
Koopman also discussed cooperation in the areas of economy, transport, and energy with Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev, Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yalchin Rafiyev.
"We initiated a feasibility study for the Nakhchivan railway, which is key to regional connectivity," Koopman emphasized in his post.
